The current system has a critical gap. Emergency shelters provide a temporary roof, but they often cannot offer the long-term, holistic support needed to truly break the cycle. Women and children are often forced to move from place to place, re-traumatizing them and making economic stability impossible. Without a safe, stable foundation, without healing from deep trauma, and without the skills to earn a living wage, the path back to an abuser—or into homelessness—becomes a devastating probability.
For too long, we've asked survivors to be brave enough to leave, without being brave enough to build a system that ensures they never have to go back. My Sister’s Promise is that system. We are making a promise not just of safety, but of a future. Join us in keeping that promise.
